Archibald Knox Liberty Silver Enamel Pendant c1905
A wonderful Liberty & Co Art Nouveau silver and enamel pendant, dating to circa 1905, designed by Archibald Knox. Decorated with a central oval enamel surrounded by Celtic motif this substantial pendant was retailed by Liberty & Co and is impressed with the company stamp to the back, and also impressed SILVER. This is an acknowledged design by Archibald Knox and there are also variants that can be seen online with turquoise and other stones in the central setting.
Archibald Knox (1864 to 1933) was a Manx designer of Scottish descent. He is best known as being Liberty & Co primary designer at the height of their success and influence upon UK and International design. His pioneering and prolific work bridged the Arts and Crafts Movement, Art Nouveau, Celtic Revival and Modernism.
The pendant is offered in good condition, commensurate with age, measures 29mm in diameter, and 46mm high including the bale and weighs 8.9g including the 40cm (16") replacement chain.
