Art Nouveau Brass Table Gong Circa 1900
A very stylish Art Nouveau brass table gong, dating to circa 1910. Probably British in manufacture, although unmarked, it really is a wonderfully sinuous and elegant piece, with the foliate cast feet. The sound is satisfyingly mellow, not tinny! The striker came with the gong when purchased and suits it fine being of the period, but probably is not the original. I have restrung the gong suspension in leather. It is offered in good condition, commensurate with age, with the gong measuring 20cm in diameter and the frame 35cm high by 30cm max at the foot.
