Arts & Crafts Copper & Steel Coal Box
An attractive Arts & Crafts copper and steel coal or storage bin, dating to circa 1910, decorated with tulips and spade motifs. A great shape, it is offered in reasonable condition, having been refurbished and repaired. There was a split to the copper lid by the handle, the side handles have been reinforced internally and there is an ebonised plywood base liner that hides a small hole in the steel base. All have been expertly repaired by our metalwork restorer. There is also the original liner, although it has several perforations. It is a striking object that now has another 100 years of use. We have sold similar to store coal, kindling, knitting, and even dog food. The choice is yours! It measures 39cm max high, with the lid 31cm square, and a max width of 39cm at the handles.
