Arts & Crafts Golden Oak Adjustable Bookcase
A wonderful Arts & Crafts golden oak adjustable bookcase, dating to circa 1910. The uprights have fluted details, as do the shelves, and there is a lovely pierced urn/heart to the top. The three central adjustable shelves are held in by steel pegs which give added security, and the back is panelled, rather than just oak faced plywood, as many are. All adding up to a rather nice piece of furniture! It measures 122.5cm high, 91.5cm wide and 19.5cm deep, with the shelves 18cm deep. Offered in good condition, commensurate with age, and a good colour. The panelled back had suffered some shrinkage over the years and I have adjusted the panels and inserted a central fillet so it is complete again. There is also a ring mark to one adjustable shelf which would be covered with books in use or you can turn that shelf over.
