Arts & Crafts John Williams Copper Inkstand c1910
A fine Arts & Crafts copper double inkstand, the design and manufacture attributed to John Williams, decorated overall with foliate motifs and dating to around 1900. John Williams worked for the Guild of Handicrafts and later at Fivemiletown Arts and Crafts Workshop, Ireland, and this piece bears many of his design motifs and is of a high quality. Offered in good condition, commensurate with age, the two inkwell lids are a modern sympathetic replacement. They were missing when we purchased it although there were signs of solder on the back side where lids had been attached. The ceramic inkwells are period replacements.
