Arts & Crafts Silver Hematite Earrings
A pair of English Arts and Crafts earrings, circa 1930, set with a facetted Hematite stones within a foliate scrolled mounts. Each measures 15.5mm overall and they weigh5.7 grams (.180 ozt). Unmarked, this style of earring is very typical of Bernard Instones work during the 1930s and thus attributed to him. They match very well with the Instone Hematite Ring and Brooch I also have for sale. Instone trained at the Birmingham School of Jewellery, then made pieces for the Gaskins and Bernard Cuzner before setting up on his own account in the 1920~s. He also then made for Sibyl Dunlop and, eventually, Liberty and Co. They are presented in good condition, commensurate with age, with modern replacement pierced connectors.
