Arts & Crafts Steel & Vaseline Glass Chandelier
A fabulous Arts & Crafts steel and brass chandelier, dating to circa 1900-1910, fitted with 4 matched vaseline glass shades, and probably English in manufacture. I am uncertain of the maker but it is of high quality and well made. The detailing is excellent with three heart planished panels to the body interspersed with three disc and ball finials, set below an ornately scrolled hanging hook with an adjustable flame shaped detail. A wonderful example, which would not be for sale if we had taller ceilings, it has been hand stripped, polished, reassembled and rewired with new bronzed brass fittings. A spectacular statement piece that would look incredible on a stairwell or hallway. The shades are arranged with three surrounding and one central shade that hangs slightly lower. The chandeliers body measures 83cm high, with a maximum drop including the bottom centre shade of 114cm.
