Arts and Crafts Copper Twin Inkwell A J Seward
An Arts and Crafts copper double inkwell by Arthur John Seward of Birmingham. Dating to circa 1910-20 this double inkwell is of typical Arts and Crafts style with exposed rivets and planished panels. The hinged lid opens to reveal two bespoke replacement ceramic ink pot liners. According to the old copper website (www.oldcopper.org - excellent!) the stamped mark HS to the base probably stands for "Homespun" which was Seward's Arts and Crafts pewter range.
It measures 23cm (9") wide, 14cm (5 1/2") deep and 8cm (3 1/4") high. Condition is good, commensurate with age, although it was originally silvered. It looks better with the copper showing, in my opinion. Price includes UK postage. Please contact me for overseas delivery.
