Arts and Crafts Golden Oak Bookcase
This lovely golden oak bookcase, dating to circa 1900, is of particularly fine quality. The central lead glazed doors have blue glass inserts, the handles are beautifully detailed and the extra details like the three pegs to both sides and the central cut out to the back show the craftsmanship of the piece.
It is substantially made and heavy, as befits the thick timbers used. A great piece of decorative furniture with great practical uses both for books and display. It bears some similarities with pieces made by Shapland and Petter, but I cannot make any definite attribution.
It would look stunning in any room.
