Arts and Crafts Patent Reclining Armchair
A great turn of the Century oak framed Arts and Crafts reclining armchair, almost certainly manufactured by Shapland and Petter of Barnstaple. There is a hidden patent number - 17470/13 to the back of the frame referring to the reclining mechanism. The button upholstered seat slides forward on hidden castors to recline. The oak frame is solid and has lovely shaped front supports and yin yang splats. The upholstery has faded (evenly though) but is 1930's at latest and may well be original.
A comfortable and attractive chair.
