Huge Bretby Ault Floor Vase Samuel Heath Frame
A wonderful and huge Arts & Crafts earthenware vase, either Ault or Bretby, seated in its brass floor stand that is stamped at the foot for Samuel Heath and Sons of Birmingham. The framework dates it to before 1892, when Samuel Heath & Sons changed to Samuel Heath Limited. I have seen a similarly shaped vase and stand with an Egyptian Revival design attributed to Dr Christopher Dresser. The earthenware shoulder vase is vibrantly glazed and the whole ensemble is stunning. Overall it measures 90cm high, with the vase 66cm (26") high, and the stand 72cm (28") high. The base of the vase has its own brass cap which is also stamped SH & S. The stand is in good condition, as is the vase, with only very minor crazing and some tiny pinpricks, all commensurate with age. The price includes delivery within 30 miles of Taunton, please contact me if further afield. It is quite big so will need quite a large box if posted!
