Large Indian Brass Tray Table on Hardwood Stand
A good large decorative Indian (Benares) brass table, the tray top with lobed dished centre, on a carved hardwood folding stand, dating to circa 1900-1910. The top is crisply embossed with foliate scrolls and a rope twist edge, whilst the base is blind carved with foliate motifs to the brass capped columns. The base is a good thickness and weight and the table is strong and stable. The brass top is in good condition, commensurate with age, whilst the base is crisply carved and displays well but has two columns that are missing a row of turned pegs each, as shown on the last photo. These aren't particularly noticeable as they are towards the centre, and the table can be turned so they are at the back, if placed close to a wall. And overall it does look great! The table measures 77.5cm diameter and 57cm high overall, with the dished centre 4.5cm deep.
