Liberty Arts & Crafts Oak Bureau, c1900
An Arts & Crafts Liberty & Co bureau, dating to circa 1900, with varying height shelves above a fitted fall front writing slope and cupboard doors enclosing a shelf. A strong and practical piece, made of quarter sawn oak, it has a good colour and wonderful shaped handles. The fall front lock is stamped Liberty & Co. Condition overall is pretty good, commensurate with age, albeit with some signs of alterations. There are small infilled holes on the right hand shelf where originally, I think, there was a cupboard door, and there is no key to the fall front lock. Although changed from original state it is a great design, has strong visual impact and the shelves are great for larger tomes. It measures 152.5cm high, 76.5cm wide and a maximum 49.5cm deep.
