Liberty Sedley Arts & Crafts Pegged Oak Bookcase
A lovely Liberty & Co "Sedley" 4 tier oak bookcase, with pierced trefoil decoration and pegged joints, dating to circa 1900-1910. It is one of four that I currently have for sale. This 4 tier model is illustrated in the Liberty's Furniture book by Daryl Bennett, as well as illustrated in Liberty catalogues of the time. A really attractive design that is also so practical. I have refurbished it, carefully removing the old discoloured lacquer and then waxing it and it now looks great, with good colour. There are still very minor markings, commensurate with age, but it is strong and solid and a great design. And, of course, the shelves will take a good number of volumes. It measures 117cm high, 83cm wide (72cm internal) and 23cm deep (21.5cm internal), with the shelves 22.5cm, 26cm and 28cm high, respectively. The price includes delivery within 30 miles of Taunton.
