Newton Class Arts & Crafts Brass Post Box
A great Arts & Crafts brass post box, dating to circa 1910, made at the Newton Class in Cambridgeshire. The Newton School of Metalwork operated from circa 1890 through to the onset of World War II and was helped by former Guild of Handicraft Metalworker John Williams who also worked at Fivemiletown in Ireland. Beautifully detailed with seed pods to the back and "post" to the front it is offered in pretty good condition, commensurate with age, with some minor wear. There are two places where they chased right through the metal within the lettering of "Post" and there are the beginnings of stress cracks to the back as shown in the last photo but nothing really noticeable. It measures 20.5cm tall, 18cm wide and 5cm deep. The price includes insured postage within the UK. Please contact if further afield.
