Newton Class Arts & Crafts Copper Vase H E Pope
An interesting Arts & Crafts copper vase, signed and dated 1909, and I think made at the Newton School of metalwork. The shaped details to the where the handle is attached is very much in the style of Newton. Signed to the base H E Pope and dated 1909 the vase is decorated with a flower to one side centred with a turquoise ceramic cabochon and to the reverse with a Chinese ( or Japanese?) character. Offered in reasonable condition, commensurate with age, there are a couple of places on the flower where the copper has worn through, some rubbing and a few dents overall. But it still displays very well and is quite a rare beast, especially with the date and signature! It measures 21cm tall, 22cm wide at the handles and 10cm diameter for the cylinder. The price includes UK postage.
