Original Walter Crane Faerie Queene Woodcut
Entitled "The ladies for the girdle strive of famous Florimell", this is an original woodblock engraving by Walter Crane from an illustrated edition of Edmund Spenser's "Faerie Queene". Held as one of the most beautiful works of the late 19th century arts and crafts movement, Walter Crane's lavishly illustrated edition of Edmund Spenser's masterpiece Faerie Queene was printed in a limited run of 1,000 copies on unbleached hand made Arnold paper, and published by George Unwin in 1897. These were published in 6 separate paper volumes and not all survived. This engraving has been framed and glazed but can be unframed for ease of postage if requested. It is in good condition, commensurate with age, and measures 23.5cm (9 1/4") high by 19cm (7 1/2") wide, with the frame approx 14" by 12". The price includes UK postage.
