Pair of Victorian Gothic Finials Cartmel Priory

Pair of Victorian Gothic Finials Cartmel Priory
A pair of wonderful and quirky painted wood Gothic finials, dating to circa 1867, and, according to the paperwork attached to the base, removed from the organ at Cartmel Priory, Cumbria, during refurbishment in the late 1960's. The organ had been installed in 1867. The bases were added in the late 1960's by Gerald Whiteway, a carpenter and undertaker in Lindale. They really are fun and, dare I say it, unique! Offered in pretty good condition, commensurate with age, the colours are still strong with only slight signs of wear to the bases. One of the flower heads is a replacement and another has a large chip. They measure 59cm high including the bases and a max 24cm wide at the widest point. The price includes UK postage, please contact me if further afield.
