Rare Clews Chameleon Ware Lamp Base c1930
A wonderful rare George Clews Chameleon Ware spherical table lamp, dating to circa 1930, and made in Tunstall, Stoke On Trent. Decorated with a variant of the owl pattern, it bears the initials for Laura Robinson the chief painters at the factory. It is illustrated on page 135 of Hilary Calvert's Chameleon Ware Art Pottery. We used to have a large collection of Chameleon Ware and only held back what we considered to be the best pieces, of which this is one! Offered in good condition, commensurate with age, it measures 23cm high plus the lamp holder and 23cm in diameter. In the last photo I have detailed a graze on the foot rim but this appears to have been caused when removing excess glaze after firing. It has been rewired and PAT tested. The price includes UK postage.
