Rare Hille Robin Day Reclining Chair one of two
A rare Hille Robin Day Reclining Chair, designed for Hille in 1952. This particular chair has been in the same family (mine) since new, circa 1955.
The slimness of its design and the angularity made it a very striking chair, but it is comfortable. The painted black steel frame is deliberately left exposed with the out swept arm rests standing proud.
It is one of Robin Day's most striking early designs, and one which he himself considered one of his most successful.
One of two which are available and it still retains its original Hille Mist Tweed Upholstery, albeit worn. The other chair was reupholstered in a charcoal tweed in the early 1990's
