Sepik River Papua New Guinea Tribal Mask

Sepik River Papua New Guinea Tribal Mask
An early / mid 20th Century woven tribal mask, probably originating from the Sepik River in Papua New Guinea. A great design, it really is a vibrant piece and I would go further and describe it as a Real Looker! There is damage to the edge of the woven basketry but the carved facial elements are in good condition, still with their coloured infills, the eyes have little coral inserts, and there is still clay covering some sections of the basket weave. As it is a spherical piece the damage, which is predominantly on the edge, is not as noticeable. It measures 27cm diameter and a max depth of 9cm. The price includes UK postage. Please contact me if further afield.
