Victorian Sculpture Cast Iron Winged Lion
A wonderful Victorian cast iron winged lion, dating to circa 1850, so beautifully modelled! When I first saw it I thought it was ceramic but lifting it soon made me realise it was cast iron. I was told that it came from a property on the Isle of Skye with links to Archibald Arnott, a British Army Surgeon who attended Napoleon on St Helena. Regardless of provenance it is a great looking object. It has been recently happily sitting on our fireplace! Offered in good condition, with crisp detailing, it measures 31cm high, 21cm wide at the wings and 30.5cm long. The price includes UK mainland postage, please contact me if further afield.
