W. Tonks Minton Moyr Smith Tennyson Tile Planter
A great Arts & Crafts William Tonks & Son Jardiniere or Planter, dating to circa 1880, set with 4 Minton tiles designed by John Moyr-Smith from the Idylls of the King series inspired by the poem by Alfred Tennyson. Each tile is stamped to the reverse, as is the brass Tonks frame. The tiles are titled Isolt, Excalibur, Geraint and Lynette. This planter was rescued from a garden and the brass frame has a good dark patination, albeit this could easily be polished if so required. The 4 tiles have varying degrees of damage as photographed (Lynette being the worst) but they all display well. I have priced it accordingly. The price includes UK delivery.
