Wylie & Lochhead Glasgow School Arts & Crafts Hall Chair

Wylie & Lochhead Glasgow School Arts & Crafts Hall Chair
A good period Arts and Crafts Glasgow School oak hall chair, very much in the C.R. Mackintosh tradition, dating to circa 1905. It is unmarked but i'm sure is made by Wylie and Lochhead to a design by John Ednie. With its row of square pierced holes to the back and shaped pierced side supports it is very similar to the much more common magazine stands. A rare and elegant (and very solid and heavy) piece! It measures 96cm (37 3/4") high, 53.5cm (21") wide and 51.5cm (20 1/4") deep. All maximum measurements. The condition is good, commensurate with age, with its original dark oak colouring.
